Part One: Revivalism

I have devoted a great
deal of my energies is the last two years to better understand how the Gospel could be
lost to so many present day Christians. This has led to a great many disturbing and
challenging realizations. I have come to realize that the simplicity of the Gospel has
been supplanted through many traditions of men, just as Jesus warned.
Beginning this month I will address one of a number of traditions which have powerfully
shaped and deeply influenced many movements, Christian groups and even whole
denominations. The first influence we will look at is Revivalism. So many who claim either
the Revivalist tradition or to be Revivalist themselves, do not even know what it is. As
always, those who fail to listen to history repeat it. They reinvent the wheel and it is
still not round. The traditions of men can be subtle and nearly invisible to those who
hold to them and promote them. I am convinced that only when one understands the biblical
Gospel, can one see through the traditions of men for what they are. They are religious
attempts to give glory to men rather than God and His Word.
The links on
this page will take you to articles by various writers, including myself, who have very
significant things to say about the effect of Revivalism on the current practices and
beliefs of many people. A series of articles on Revivalism will be forthcoming. I can not
say how extremely important this subject is for all Christians working their way through
the various historical manifestation of Revivalism present today. Especially for those who
have traded the Gospel for the Revivalist tradition . . . and do not even realize it.
