PERSONAL REVIVAL: Living the
Christian Life in the Light of the Cross
- Stanley Voke, (Wayensboro, GA:
Gabriel Publishing, 2002), 79 pages.
The subtitle of Stanley Voke's
book provides the real theme of this tremendous little book. If this is one
book I could recommend to everyone, this is it. This book not only succinctly
teaches true faith in the Gospel, but it also teaches in one of the clearest
expressions about how to continue living in grace and in the light of the
cross of Jesus. I give it a ten out of ten stars!

GRACE PLUS NOTHING: Building godly
character through grace alone - Jeff Harkin, (Milwaukee, WI: Applied Grace
Publications, 2003), 328 pages.
Jeff has written from his
experience about how God, through the grace of Jesus, can radically transform
a life. This is one of the most practical books on living the Christian life
out of the Gospel. Jeff’s book was one of the instrumental books that God used
to open my heart to the Gospel. I recommend this as a must read for anyone who
wants to live a life of Grace.

Lucado covers the broad picture of

His style in conveying these truths is very enjoyable and easy to read.

THE REIGN OF GRACE: The Delights and Demands of God’s Love - Scotty
Smith, (West Monroe, LA: Howard Publishing Co. 2003), 299 pages.
Scotty Smith is the pastor of a large Gospel-centered church in Franklin
TN. This a wonderful book because it is not only doctrinally and theologically
rich, but it comes from the heart of someone who passionately believes the
doctrines of grace. This is a must read book for people who wish to read the
full scope of the work of Grace.

RICH IN CHRIST - Jack Teeple, (Hicksville, OH: Rich in Christ
Publications, 2005) 157 pages. To contact Jack for his book write: Jack Teeple,
208 S. Main St., Hicksville, OH 43526, or email
richinchrist@gmail.com
Rich in Christ is an excellent and practical way to recall the promises of
God given us through Christ. This is at the heart of how we receive the grace
of God. God gives us grace through Jesus. As we recognize and believe the
benefits of Christ for us we grow in the grace Christ gives. As Christians we
are called to live out of the Gospel – that is, live out of Jesus. To live out
of the Gospel we need to remember the rich benefits we have in Christ. Jack's
book is right to the point and helps us to do just that.

CHRIST ESTEEM: Where the Search for Self-Esteem Ends - Don Matzat,
(Eugene, OR: Harvest House Publishers, 1990), 207 pages.
Don is going up against the current culture secular psychology of
self-esteem. The thrust of his book is to point us toward finding our personal
esteem in Christ alone. More that that, life is not about our personal esteem.
It is about our esteem of Christ. "In ‘Christ-Esteem,’ you will discover for
yourself that Jesus Christ is the single, sufficient solution to all of life’s
problems."

BREAKING THE BONDAGE OF LEGALISM - Neil T. Anderson, Rich Miller, and
Paul Travis, (Eugene, OR: Harvest House Publishers, 2003), 316 pages.
This book approaches Grace from the back door by helping you see the way
that a legalistic worldview will shut your life to the worldview of the
Gospel. The first half of the book is about legalism as "the lies that bind."
The second half is about grace as "the yoke that frees." The authors deal with
shame, guilt, pride and enemies of freedom in Christ.
VICTORY OVER THE DARKNESS: Realizing the Power of Your Identity in Christ
- Neil T. Anderson, (Ventura, CA: Regal Books, 2000), 229 pages.
This book is part of the series by Neil Anderson. Recognizing our identity
in Christ is one of the essential truths that all Christians must understand
to live in Grace and to apply the truth of the Gospel. This tremendous book
effectively targets this truth. Anderson starts asking "Who Are You?" before
explaining the nature of the "Whole Gospel." Then he speaks to the heart of
the matter in the chapter on "See Yourself for Who You Really Are." I believe
he is right when he says "You can’t live beyond what you believe." I can’t
stress enough how important it is to know and believe who you are in Christ.
This book is an excellent help toward that goal.

THE RAGAMUFFIN GOSPEL - Brennan Manning, (Sisters, OR: Multnomah
Publishers, 2000), 235 pages.
This well-read book is a classic by Manning. It is a probing,
thought-provoking, and soul-searching reflection on the "scandal of grace."
Manning’s writing about the life of grace is unique. He challenges the
superficiality of religion and extols the "furious love of God." Manning says
"Most of us believe in God’s grace – in theory. But somehow we can’t seem to
apply it in our daily lives. We continue to see Him as a small-minded
book-keeper, tallying our failures and successes on a score sheet. Yet God
gives us His grace, willingly, no matter what we’ve done. We come to Him as
ragamuffins – dirty, bedraggled, and beat-up. And when we sit at his feet, He
smiles upon us, the chosen objects of His ‘furious love.’" You need to read
this book.

GRACE AMAZING - Steve McVey, (Eugene, OR: Harvest House Publishers,
2001), 179 pages.
The back page asks: "If your Christian life seems as dry as dust and you’re
just going around in circles, maybe you’re wandering in the wilderness. In the
wilderness you feel as though you live by the rules, and the Bible is the rule
book; you work hard for God ... but you never quite measure up; you have to
get your act together first – then God grants you His blessings. In the land
of God’s amazing grace, you experience the truth that ... God has made you
alive in Christ – and now you want to do what He wants; Jesus has done
all the work, and you can rest in the Father’s acceptance; God has already
given you every spiritual blessing, and now you can live in freedom and
confidence."

A SCANDALOUS FREEDOM: The Radical Nature of the Gospel - Steve Brown,
(West Monroe, LA: Howard Publishing Co. 2004), 250 pages.
Steve Brown has written another cutting edge book on the radical nature of
the Gospel. In this book he challenges us to consider topics such as: "the
perfection we desire ... and the forgiveness that sets us free;" "the masks we
wear ... and the authenticity that sets us free;" the boldness we fear ... and
the courage that sets us free;" and "the failure we foster ... and the victory
that sets us free."
From the Back: "God has set us free -- and at great cost -- but many
Christians live in self-imposed bondage. Rather than delighting in God's
lavish grace, they are fearful of igniting his displeasure.
"As author Steve Brown explains in this brave, new book, too many
Christians don't trust freedom -- for themselves or others. They prefer the
security of man-made regulations to the adventure of freedom. The implications
of freedom, Brown asserts, can sometimes be dangerous; but the the alternative
is deadly: a life without joy and void of celebration of our unique gifts in
Christ.
"Dare to explore the joys of biblical freedom. Open the pages of this book
and begin a journey that will set you free -- really and truly and completely
free."

CHRIST IS ALL! - David Byant (New Providence, NJ: New Providence
Publishers, 2004), 410 pages.
What a wonderful book! This is an invaluable book reveling in the supremacy
of Jesus. It is actually three books in one. The first part is "Christ and
Supremacy." The second is "The Crisis of Supremacy" and the third is "A
Campaign of Hope."
The Gospel of Grace is a Christ-centered, Christ-exalting Gospel. As one
grows in grace one grows in awe of Christ. This is a book that helps the
reader grow in awe of Christ. Read this book if you desire to have your eyes
opened to riches of the glorious inheritance which we have in Christ.
