I would like to recommend
this landmark book.
Thomas Oden is a professor
of Theology and Ethics at Drew University Theological School. One of the top
patristics scholars, Oden provides quotes from the first five centuries
demonstrating that a consensus existed on the doctrine of justification by
faith, long before the Reformation. He makes a strong case that the
classic doctrine of justification by grace through faith in Christ alone has
been the faith of the Church since the days of the Apostles.
I believe this is a must
read. |
