I recently received this email from
an anonymous writer. I usually only respond to the person who wrote me. In this
way I try to respect the confidence and privacy of the
individuals who write me. I never post anything publicly with the name of a
person attached unless that person gives me permission. I do not know the name
of this person, nor do I have a way of contacting them. (I feel is more proper
to give your name and means of response when writing to
question another person. In that way they have a fair opportunity to respond.)
Since this is an example
of the type of questions I receive from the those who
do not agree with my views, I thought it would be good to answer it and post it
for those who have similar questions. One thing I have experienced is that some
read only a portion of one article and they write criticism
without searching the rest of the site where I
usually answer most of their questions. I have answered the question of this
anonymous person throughout my web site. I will list some of the articles that
address the questions below:
You stated in your comments on being
baptized that it was only a outward confession. The Bible says: Romans 6 1-4
that we are buried with him in baptism. !IN OTHER WORDS WE ARE FOLLOWING THE
DEATH, BURIAL AND HIS RESSURECTION, ACCORDING TO THIS SCRIPTUE AND ALSO IN 1
CORTH. 10 1-4. Peter says that we are saved through bptism, Acts commands
baptism in Chp. 10. Get your salvation right!! Jesus said he that hears my
sayings and does them is like a man that built his house on a rock and that does
it not is liken unto a man that built his house on sand. Acts 22:16 says baptism
washes away sins. remits sins and covers sins. Have you been baptized in his
name???? Acts 2:38 [All typo are retained from the original -
BLG]
All the links below take you to
articles that answer each of your questions in depth.
I would add that I don’t have to get
my salvation right because I am not the author of my salvation. Anyone who
trusts in their baptism or performing it in the correct way as part of their
salvation has undermined the work of the Cross. They are trusting in their
baptism as much as they trust in Christ. God will not accept this. Jesus alone
is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus already "got my salvation right" when
he died for me on the Cross. He took my sins and counted the righteousness of
Jesus to me. I am as right as I will ever be in Christ. It is not about what I
must do or can do, it is about what God has done for us through Jesus. This is
the message of God’s grace. I trust totally and explicitly in that wonderful and
awesome sacrifice of love for me – and for you and all the world.
